ABC Renews Freshman Comedies

BURBANK: ABC has announced second-season renewals for its popular Wednesday night comedies Cougar Town, The Middle and Modern Family. 

Cougar Town, airing Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m., recently scored a Golden Globe nomination for star Courteney Cox as a newly divorced single mother reentering the dating world in her 40s. The Middle, in the 8:30 p.m. slot, is a single-camera comedy about raising a family and lowering your expectations. Modern Family at 9 p.m. is the most-watched new comedy of the season and has been nominated for Golden Globe, Writers Guild, Directors Guild and Art Directors Guild awards.
