U2 Concert Gets Live YouTube Stream

SAN BRUNO: U2’s sold-out concert in L.A. on October 25 will be streamed live in its entirety on YouTube in 16 countries, including the U.S., U.K., France, India, Brazil and Australia.

The band confirmed its plans for the Pasadena Rose Bowl live stream via a video blog. This is the first time a show of this size will be streamed live. The Rose Bowl—set to welcome more than 96,000 U2 fans—plays host to the band’s second-last concert appearance for the year, before they resume their massive The 360° Tour in 2010. The live stream will be accessible in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Korea, Spain, the U.K. and the U.S. Following two full replays, it will also be viewable on demand on both U2.com and YouTube.

U2’s manager, Paul McGuinness, said, ‘The band has wanted to do something like this for a long time. As we’re filming the L.A. show, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend the party beyond the stadium. Fans often travel long distances to come to see U2—this time U2 can go to them, globally."Chris Maxcy, the director of YouTube partner development, added: "YouTube is thrilled to be able to provide our global audience with a live streaming performance from one of the world’s greatest bands. We are always looking for new ways to connect fans around the world with their favourite artists, and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that."
