SPT Sets Up New Italian, Spanish Production Businesses

LONDON: Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has further expanded its international production capabilities, setting up new ventures in Spain and Italy.

Marco Tombolini will lead Madrid-based Toro Producciones as senior VP and managing director. In Spain, SPT’s existing scripted and nonscripted operations, headed up by Alfredo Ereno, will also be overseen by Tombolini. Pasquale Romano will be at the helm of Toro Produzioni in Rome, which will manage all of SPT’s light-entertainment formats in the Italian market. In addition to managing the Italian business, Romano will serve as the senior VP and director of creative affairs for Italy and Spain.

"The addition of Marco and Pasquale to our business demonstrates our commitment to our expanding operation in Spain and to establishing a new presence in Italy. This is an important and exciting development for our business.”

Romano developed the first stripped daily edition of Deal Or No Deal and created the format Best Years of our Life, which aired in Italy and Spain, among many other credits. Tombolini held a numer of roles at Endemol, including head of acquisitions, head of development and head of entertainment.
