2waytraffic Takes On Nippon Television Game Show Format

LONDON, October 8: 2waytraffic
International has acquired the distribution rights in non-English
speaking territories to Nippon
Television’s (NTV) Japanese game-show format Silent Library, which will be highlighted at MIPCOM this week.

The deal covers all territories excluding Japan, the U.K., the Republic
of Ireland and Isle of Man, North America (U.S., Canada and Mexico), Australia
and New Zealand.

Silent Library was created by Japanese comedian Hitoshi
Matsumoto in 2001 as part of NTV’s popular variety show Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai
ya Arahende
. The game show takes place in a library setting where a team of players
perform pranks and punishments on each other while having to remain as silent
as possible.

As
well as rolling out Silent Library internationally, 2waytraffic
will use its experience and expertise to leverage the format across multiple
platforms.

Silent Library has already won an
international cult following through fans posting their favorite moments on
file-sharing websites,” commented Ed
Louwerse, the managing director of 2waytraffic International. “Given the current
trend in Japanese formats, and NTV’s track record in international success, I’m
delighted it is a part of 2waytraffic’s offering.”
