2008 Shaw Rocket Prize Now Accepting Submissions

CALGARY, November 9: The Shaw Rocket Fund has announced that
it is now accepting submissions for the 2008 Shaw Rocket Prize, which awards
C$50,000 to the best independently produced Canadian youth or family program.

This year, the Shaw Rocket Prize will accept submissions for
programs with a target audience of children 12 and under. Any genre or format
is eligible and all program lengths are welcome. Submission details can be
found at www.rocketfund.ca. The deadline for entries is November 16.

An international jury consisting
of key individuals within the children’s broadcasting and production industry
will select the Shaw Rocket Prize finalists. The jury will be announced in
January 2008. Finalists will be announced in February 2008. A jury of
approximately 400 Canadian students will choose the C$50,000 winner as part of
a school-based media literacy program.

Established in 2005 by the Shaw Rocket Fund as the largest
award of its kind in Canada, the Shaw Rocket Prize is open to independent,
Canadian producers of children’s, youth and family programming.
