Media Ranch has appointed Philip Kalin-Hajdu as head of content and storytelling.

Kalin-Hajdu will be developing and writing new series and formats, as he looks to grow Media Ranch’s slate and seek out new talent. Kalin-Hajdu is a two-time Canadian Screen Award-nominated producer of the web series YidLife Crisis. He also adapted the screenplay and produced the award-winning horror feature Game of Death, which was licensed as a series to the online platform Blackpills.

Previously, Kalin-Hajdu was the director of development for Ziad Touma’s Couzin Films, where he developed and line-produced The Judas, which Media Ranch will be launching at MIPCOM as a format.

He will report directly to Media Ranch President Sophie Ferron. Ferron said: “Our tenth anniversary is starting with a bang. We have a stellar slate of formats and an exceptional creative joining us in Philip Kalin-Hajdu.

“Philip brings years of experience in film, television, digital and interactive media, and will help sustain Media Ranch’s position as a top creator and distributor of unscripted entertainment.”

Kalin-Hajdu said: “I’m thrilled to be working with Sophie Ferron and Media Ranch, pioneers of the format business in Canada. I look forward to our collaboration—bringing new and exciting series to the competitive world of factual television.”
