BBC Studios and Crackle have struck a deal to bring the new season of Doctor Who to the Sony Pictures Television Networks SVOD platform in Latin America.

Crackle subscribers in LatAm will have exclusive access to the new season, which features Jodie Whittaker (Broadchurch) as the Doctor. The new 10×50-minute season kicks off with a feature-length opening episode; the premiere date on Crackle will be announced soon.

In addition to the premiere of the new season of Doctor Who, Crackle’s exclusive content offering will include other series from BBC Studios such as Born to Kill and the first two seasons of Top of the Lake. All of this content is available in HD without commercial interruptions, subtitled in their original language or dubbed into Spanish and/or Portuguese.

Doctor Who is a powerful brand which has a long history and faithful fans around the world,” said David Hanono, general manager of sales and digital at BBC Studios Latin America/US Hispanic. “This new deal strengthens BBC Studios’ commercial relationship with Crackle and allows us to give Latin American audiences a chance to enjoy this new season of Doctor Who, featuring the first-ever woman in the iconic role. It also enables us to consolidate BBC Studios’ presence within the region’s leading OTT services and demonstrates the appeal of our content to platforms looking for innovative, distinguished and high-quality productions.”
