Howard Stringer to Be Honored at 2011 CES

NEW YORK: The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced the recipients of this year’s Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards, to take place as part of the 2011 International CES, where Sir Howard Stringer will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The event marks the fifth consecutive year the the Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards have been presented in conjunction with the International CES. The event will take place January 6 in Las Vegas.

The National Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Technology & Engineering will be presented to Stringer, the chairman and CEO of Sony Corporation. Other individuals and companies to be honored at the event include Avid Technology and Ikegami Co. (for development and production of portable tapeless acquisition); Stan Hubler, Dough Leighton, Bob Cohen, Charlie Butten, RTS Systems and Clearcom (for the belt pack: distributed amplifier systems in live production); HME and RTS Systems (for development of wireless intercom); Linear Acoustic and Dolby Laboratories (for development of audio meta data process for conforming audio the ATSC digital TV standard); CableLabs (for enabling standards for the delivery of TV via broadband data systems); NAC Image Technology, EVS Broadcast Equipment, Vision Research and Grass Valley Group (for HD super motion systems for acquisition, recording and playback for broadcast entertainment and sports productions); and Sony, Royal Philips Electronics, Panasonic Corporation and TDK Corporation (for blue laser optical systems for consumer playback).
