Zodiak’s YS Film to Produce Puppet Show for Ukraine’s TET

KIEV, September 4: YS Film, the Ukrainian production company
recently acquired by Zodiak Television, will produce the satirical daily puppet
show Pupsnia for Ukrainian broadcaster
TET.

Pupsnia will air
begin airing on TET on September 10, to coincide with the start of Ukraine’s
parliamentary elections campaign. The show first aired in Russia under the name
Kukly during the 1990s and
garnered a strong average audience share of 50 percent. Pupsnia also follows the model of the long-running daily
series Les Guignols de l’Info,
airing on Canal+ in France, and the British series Spitting Image.

Zodiak, through its subsidiary YS Film, has now secured the
production of three daily formats in Ukraine and is in discussions with several
broadcasters regarding the local production of Russian formats and
international concepts from Zodiak’s catalogue.

“We couldn’t have dreamed of a better kick-off for our
activities in Ukraine,” commented Patrick Nebout, the VP of Eastern Europe at
Zodiak Television. “Pupsnia is an
enormously well-known and successful show and we are sure Ukrainian audiences
will be excited by the new version. As we’re about to roll out several other
unique shows with solid track-records into the market, we’re confident that YS
Film will soon take the lead as Ukraine’s top producer of entertainment and
daily drama hits.”
