CANNES: The existing programming and co-production deal between A&E Television Networks (AETN) and ZDF Enterprises has been extended for a further three years.

The agreement originally kicked off in 2005, spanning co-productions and program acquisitions, as well as a syndication representation deal. This deal has ZDF Enterprises acquiring non-fiction programming from HISTORY for the ZDF History Sunday night programming block. HISTORY in Germany will acquire local history programming from ZDF Enterprises for broadcast, along with biography and lifestyle programming for Bio.

HISTORY in the U.S. and ZDF Enterprises also have renewed their co-production partnership for the next three years.

Another part of the deal sees ZDF Enterprises continuing to serve as the syndication representative for Germany-speaking Europe for Modern Marvels

Alexander Coridass, the president and CEO of ZDF Enterprises, said: “AETN, ZDF and ZDF Enterprises are synonymous to high-caliber programming for audiences around the globe. We are very proud of this longstanding and fruitful partnership of global players in the most significant fields of the television industry. In this very competitive time of digital changes we are pleased that our close relationship with this successful and reliable partner is still going strong.”

“ZDF Enterprises has been an important production and distribution partner for AETN through the years, and we are very pleased to extend this multi-faceted agreement,” added Sean Cohan, the senior VP of international at AETN.  “This strategic relationship has always been beneficial to both parties and I have no doubt the partnership will continue to thrive.”
