ZDF, Tele München Align for New Adaptation of Jack London Novel

CANNES/MUNICH, October 15: ZDF and the Tele München Group (TMG) are teaming up for a new adaptation of Jack London’s classic adventure novel The Seawolf, which will air as a two-part mini-series on Austrian broadcaster ORF.

The new adaptation follows ZDF and TMG’s first co-production of The Seawolf 40 years ago. The mini-series will be co-produced by TMG-owned Clasart Television. The project will be placed under the lead management of Dr. Herbert Kloiber and produced by Rikolt von Gagern and his company Gate Film Produktion, with a budget of 12 million euros. Power in the U.K. will also serve as a partner on the series, with Power’s chairman and CEO Justin Bodle to serve as co-producer. As co-producer, Power will be handling international sales.

Shooting for The Seawolf will begin in May 2008 with an international star cast. The script was written by British author Nigel Williams, who also penned the screenplay to Elizabeth I, which featured Oscar winners Helen Mirren and Jeremy Irons, and was honored with nine Emmy Awards and three Golden Globes.
