YTV Slates New Comedy for 2011

VANCOUVER: Thunderbird Films is producing the new situational comedy Mr. Young in association with YTV, which has slated the sitcom for a spring 2011 debut in Canada.

The show is created by Dan Signer, one of the leading writer-producers on the hit Disney comedy series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and The Suite Life on Deck. The series, which heads into production this October, follows the life of Adam Young, a child prodigy who went to university at the age of 9. at 14 he is a college graduate and has landed a job as a high-school teacher. Working on the show are writer-producer Howard Nemetz (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody) and director Adam Weissman (iCarly).

“There is a large pool of talented, Canadian comedy writers in Los Angeles working on some of the biggest hit shows, many of whom are keen to work with Dan Signer on Mr. Young,” said Michael Shepard, the president of Thunderbird Films. “Response to the material in development has been overwhelmingly positive.”

“We are looking forward to working with Dan Signer on this great new concept,” added Jocelyn Hamilton, the VP of programming and production at Corus Kids. “As we continue to build our sitcom block to cater to the likes of our ever-growing co-view audience on YTV, we are excited to add Mr. Young to our schedule.”
