LONDON: UKTV-owned factual channel Yesterday has taken the exclusive British rights to a new series from World Media Rights about World War II for broadcast as part of its Spirit of 1940s programming strand.

Narrow Escapes of World War Two, a 13×1-hour series that will tell stories of outrageous and deadly operations, will air in September. "The series encompasses the fighting spirit of WWII with thirteen exceptional tales of derring-do when combatants fought against overwhelming odds and survived," said Adrian Wills, interim channel head. "It is a great addition to our continuing Spirit of the 1940s programming strand.”

World Media Rights’ CEO, Alan Griffiths, added: “We are pleased to work closely again with Yesterday on this series. Their imaginative and innovative approach to history means that they always get the best stories told in a direct way which keeps modern audiences watching. That is how they deliver such outstanding ratings for history series.”
