METHODOLOGY
A broad range of sellers—niche and multi-genre distributors—in numerous territories were asked for the lowest and highest prices paid for the listed categories of programming. This index is for acquisitions only, and does not include prices for co-productions or commissions. The figures are intended to serve as very general guidelines, as prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the network, the number of runs, the daypart in which the show will run and, most important, the way a program is packaged with other product. Prices also vary depending on the type of platform making the purchase (terrestrial, satellite, cable, etc.), and if non-linear rights are included. All prices are in U.S. dollars.

About the Author
Bob Jenkins is a well-known journalist covering the media business and has been a frequent World Screen contributor. Jenkins, who spent 20 years as a distributor before becoming a reporter, surveyed a broad range of sellers to compile this report. "After more than 30 years in the content business as a distributor and a journalist, I have many strong relationships, so a statistically sound number of sellers were willing to provide very full estimates—they know who they are (and nobody else will!), and for their trust and time I thank them."
