Winners Selected for DISCOP Pitching Competitions

JOHANNESBURG: The winners have been announced for the four DISCOP Johannesburg pitching competitions that took place from November 2 to 3, in the categories of TV series, documentaries, formats and animation.

The winner in the animation pitch was Cloud Life, from Talia Sanhewe. The runner-up in the category was Hatch, from Wendy Spinks.

For documentary, the selected pitch was Les Mysteres de la Foret, from Hippolyte Kamdem Fotso. Coming in second was African Queen and Warriors, from Mary-Ann Mandishona.

Banishers, pitched by Chinaka Iwunze, won in the TV series arena. Tsitsi Dangarembga’s pitch for Ms Rhythmix was runner-up.

The winning format pitch was Mums vs Dads Can Cook, from Isabel Munyua Njoroge. The runner-up in the category was Who Are You Crazy About, pitched by Christy Enem.

The winners were rewarded with various prizes, ranging from cash, funding support, mentorship packages, marketing and distribution assistance, potential broadcasting and more.
