Winners Announced for BAFTAs

LONDON, May 21: The British Academy Television Awards were
presented last night at a ceremony at the London Palladium, with the Pioneer
Audience Award going to BBC’s Life on Mars,
while the International award went to HBO’s Entourage.

In the performance categories, Jim Broadbent took best actor
for Channel 4’s Longford, while Victoria
Wood picked up the best actress award for ITV1’s Housewife, 49. The entertainment performance category was won by
Jonathan Ross for BBC One’s Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. Ricky Gervais took the comedy performance award for
BBC Two’s Extras.

ITV1’s Housewife, 49
won for best single drama, while BBC One’s The Street took the drama series category, and drama serial
went to ITV1’s See No Evil: The Moors Murders. In the continuing drama category, the winner was
BBC One’s Casualty.

For factual series, the BAFTA went to Sky One’s Ross Kemp
on Gangs
, and the specialist factual award
was presented to Channel 4’s Nuremberg: Goering's Last Stand. The single documentary award went to BBC One’s Evicted. In the features category, the winning show was BBC
Two’s The Choir.

ITV1’s The X Factor
won for entertainment program, BBC One’s The Royle Family: Queen of
Sheba
picked up the situation comedy award
and the comedy program award was given to BBC Two’s That Mitchell
& Webb Look
