Winners Announced for 22nd Annual Gemini Awards

REGINA, October 29: The
winners of the 22nd annual Gemini Awards in Canada were unveiled
last night at a gala that aired on CBC Television, with the third season of
Rhombus Media’s Slings & Arrows
picking up four awards, including best dramatic series.

In the individual
performance categories for drama, Paul Gross won best actor for his role in Slings
& Arrows
, while Martha Burns
won a best actress award for her role in the drama series. Slings &
Arrows
also took home the prize
for best writing in a dramatic series. Meanwhile, Chris Haddock picked up a
Gemini for best direction in a dramatic series for Intelligence.

In the comedy genre, Corner
Gas
, from Prairie Pants
Productions, Verité Films, and 335 Productions, also picked up a slew of
awards, including best comedy series. Corner Gas also snagged awards for best ensemble performance
in a comedy program or series, and for best writing in a comedy or variety
program or series.

Little Mosque on the
Prairie
, produced by WestWind
Pictures, claimed the Canada Award, while Fatherland, from Barna-Alper Productions won the Donald
Brittain Award for best social/political documentary program.
