WIA Appoints Executive Director

WIA, formerly Women in Animation, has named Hayley Porter as its first executive director.

Porter has more than 25 years of experience operating at a senior leadership level across the animation and entertainment industry. Her career includes in-house and consulting experience in roles with studios such as Aardman, Locksmith Animation, Baobab Studios and Sunrise Productions, among others.

As executive director of WIA, Porter will provide strategic leadership across its global programs and initiatives, working closely with the board and executive committees to ensure strong governance and alignment. She will focus on expanding WIA’s international presence, strengthening industry partnerships, driving membership growth, advancing fundraising efforts and deepening stakeholder engagement. She has been part of WIA’s PR and fundraising committee for almost a decade.

“We’re thrilled to bring Hayley on board,” said Marge Dean, president of WIA. “We look forward to the vision, leadership and international perspective she brings. Her dedication and commitment to gender equity within the animation, VFX and gaming fields are an asset and will be critical in amplifying our efforts globally.”

“Supporting women and non-binary creators has always been central to my work throughout my career,” Porter commented. “As the industry continues to navigate significant challenges and rapid change, my focus is on building upon and strengthening WIA’s foundation while accelerating our international and membership growth.”
