Weather Channel Up for Sale

NORFOLK, January 3: Virginia-based Landmark Communications
is said to be looking for a buyer for its Weather Channel cable outlet, valued
at some $5 billion.

According to the New York Times, the channel and accompanying website are being eyed
by NBC Universal, News Corporation and Comcast. The sell-off is said to be part
of a reorganization at Landmark, a privately held company that owns several
print and broadcast assets. JPMorgan Chase and Lehman Brothers are reportedly
advising Landmark on the Weather Channel sale.
