WE tv Stocks Slate

NEW YORK: The U.S. women’s entertainment network WE tv has announced a slate of originals, both new and returning, alongside documentary specials in production and development.

The network has greenlit the 6×1-hour Girl Meets Gown, a series that captures brides-to-be on the hunt for the perfect wedding dress. WE tv is also in production on Jilted? (working title), a 6×1-hour original series that follows as wannabe brides give their boyfriends the ultimate ultimatum of "It’s now or never." The channel has renewed The Locator for a fourth run and its child-pageant series Little Miss Perfect for a second. Also scoring a renewal is the original teen documentary series High School Confidential.

The two-hour documentary Surrogate Stories, spotlighting families using surrogacy, is in production. A follow up to WE tv’s documentary on female inmates, Chain Gang Girls 2 has completed production and will premiere on WE tv on August 11.

The new original series Adoption Diaries premieres September 12. Each episode follows a different story from its beginning stages—as a birth mother is faced with the task of choosing her baby’s future family—following pregnancy through birth, and on to the child’s future.

“WE tv has long been a leader in creating genre programming that entertains and appeals to women,” said Kim Martin, the president and general manager of WE tv. “The network’s continued success has been driven by compelling series such as The Locator and High School Confidential, and we’re proud to bring these series back for new seasons. We’re also excited to continue to broaden the scope of our programming with series such as Surrogate Stories. Whatever the genre, WE tv remains committed to creating original programming that offers fascinating real-life stories which continue to differentiate us and bring new viewers to the network.”
