Warner Channel Takes CBS Paramount Titles

MIAMI,
July 31: Warner Channel in Latin America has acquired a raft of new U.S.
programming from CBS Paramount International Television, including Showtime’s Californication with David Duchovny and CBS’s Cane starring Jimmy Smits.

Cane is a drama about the power struggles within a
large Cuban-American family running a successful sugar business in South
Florida. The comedy Californication
features Duchovny as a freewheeling novelist feeding his penchant for drinks,
drugs and women.

The
deal also includes the CBS midseason replacement Swingtown, a drama that looks at the impact of sexual and
social liberation in 1970’s American suburbia; Life is Wild for The CW, about a veterinarian who drags his
troubled family out of New York City to spend a year living on a South African
game reserve; and Eight Days a Week,
which centers around a group of close friends beginning their careers in New
York City and the relationships they maintain with outrageously egocentric
bosses.

“With
the output of both Warner Bros. and CBS Paramount, we have acquired what is
without question the highest quality and most sought after content coming out
of Hollywood today,” said Mike Spinelle, the president and general manager of
Warner Channel. “This underscores our position as the number one powerhouse in
series programming in Latin America. Now, more than ever, we are indeed a force
to be reckoned with in that space.”
