Warner Bros. Licenses Movie Package to Japan

TOKYO/BURBANK: Japanese channel operator Jupiter Entertainment has picked up a package of more than 80 feature films from Warner Bros. International Television for broadcast on its Movie Plus outlet.

The three-year deal gives the CS channel the rights to carry several recent releases, as well as library fare, beginning this spring. Titles include The Departed, Blood Diamond, The Bodyguard and Goonies, among others. “It is expected that the multiyear licensing agreement with Warner Bros. will enhance customer satisfaction for Movie Plus, the largest movie specialty channel in terms of its viewing households, and contribute to the further growth of the multi-channel market in Japan,” said Hiroyuki Nakatani, representative director and president of Jupiter Entertainment.

Movie Plus reached 7.6 million homes as of the end of March 2009.
