VOX Commissions ITV Studios’ Loose Women

COLOGNE: The long-running daytime British series Loose Women has been commissioned by VOX in Germany, marking the first international treatment for the format, to be produced by ITV Studios’ Granada Germany.

Loose Women is a topical talk show hosted by an all female panel of public figures. Featuring interviews with famous personalities, subjects range from daily politics and current affairs, to celebrity gossip and women’s interest. The German adaptation will air under the title Frauenzimmer. VOX will announce the Frauenzimmer hosts this fall and the series will broadcast this winter.

Kai Sturm, the editor in chief of VOX, said, “Granada Germany found seven extraordinary and witty women for Loose Women and we’re looking forward to the launch date. Before launching it on TV, VOX has established a website called Frauenzimmer.de. The site started in July 2008 and is after 14 months the best known portal for female affairs within the target group of adult women.”

Jan Kromschroeder, the managing director at Granada Germany, commented “Loose Women has been one of the U.K.’s most popular daytime events for ten years. Maintaining a deep and trusted relationship with millions of viewers, it has consistently delivered the schedules best ratings. At Granada Germany we’ll be working with VOX to bring Loose Women’s proven popularity to air, in what I believe will be an incredibly exciting addition to daytime.”

Remy Blumenfeld, the director of formats at ITV Studios, added, “Loose Women are ready to conquer the world. Our formats, distribution and production teams are dedicated to bringing ITV’s proven and trusted formats to our global partners. Today’s news is another superb example of how we’re sharing the U.K.’s success and experience worldwide.”

The new book deal follows on from the number one bestselling book Loose Women: Girls Night In, which was also released in the U.K. by Hodder & Stoughton in spring 2009.

Kevin Morgan, the director of publishing at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, said, "Loose Women has established itself as one of the U.K.’s biggest and most popular daytime names. The show consistently achieves the top rating position in its time slot and combined with an upcoming DVD exclusive this autumn, we’re confident the second book will prove extremely popular this Christmas."
