VOOM HD Network Acquires Programming from NHK

NEW YORK, January 23: Rainbow Media-owned VOOM HD Networks’
Equator HD has inked a deal with Media International Corporation (MICO) for
more than 20 hours of high-definition television content from Japanese public
broadcaster NHK.

Equator HD has acquired seasons three and four of the NHK’s
critically acclaimed HD wildlife documentary series Wild Secrets, as well as ten stand-alone documentary titles dealing
with ecology and issues of cultural, wildlife and environmental concerns that
impact the world. Equator HD will begin airing season three of Wild
Secrets
this month, with season four
debuting in February. The ten stand-alone titles will premiere on Equator HD in
the first quarter and include The Yellow Sand, a 52-minute documentary on the negative effects of
deserts on the city and countryside, and The Nuclear Bazaar, a behind-the-scenes look at the Pakistani scientist
who sold nuclear technology to Iran, Libya and North Korea.

"NHK is recognized the world over for its pioneering
work in HDTV technology, a task it committed itself to in 1964,” said Ali
Hossaini, the executive producer of Equator HD. “As a result of this
commitment, NHK has a wealth of programming that is consistent with the
quality, story lines and production values of VOOM HD Networks. We are
delighted to work with MICO in bringing these beautifully produced and
thoughtfully delivered stories to our viewers in the U.S."
