Vivendi Profit Down 14 Percent

PARIS: Vivendi has released its financial results for the first quarter, reporting revenues of 6.5 billion euros, a 23.7-percent increase on the year-ago period, and net earnings of 477 million euros,  reflecting a 14.1-percent decline. 

The Canal+ Group reported revenues of 1.1 billion euros, flat on the year-ago period. At Canal+ France, year-on-year portfolio growth amounted to 75,000 subscriptions. The segment also recorded portfolio growth of 280,000 at Canal+ Poland. Vivendi also noted that StudioCanal benefited from last year’s integration of Kinowelt, as well as successful releases in France, such as Coco, and the U.K., with The Wrestler and Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Canal+ Group’s EBITA gained 49.4 percent to 254 million euros.

The quarter also showed strong gains at Activision Blizzard, with revenues of 731 million euros; and SFR, where revenues were up by 31.5 percent to 3 billion euros, and modest gains at Maroc Telecom, where revenues were up by 4.2 percent to 640 million euros.
