Virgin Media Preps New Channel

LONDON, June 11: Virgin Media is set to launch a new channel
later this year on its own cable platform and on Freeview, delivering
commissioned and acquired entertainment and factual programming.

Virgin 1 is expected to launch later this year with a lineup
of drama, comedy and factual fare, as well as user-generated content. It will
be available on Virgin Media and Freeview, as well as on online and digital
satellite services.

The move comes amidst Virgin Media’s public spat with BSkyB
over carriage of the popular Sky basic channels, including Sky One.
