NEW YORK: Rola Bauer, partner and managing director at Tandem Communications, talks in this video interview about the highly anticipated The Pillars of the Earth, which premieres tomorrow night on Starz in the U.S.

 

The eight-hour TV adaptation of Ken Follett’s novel The Pillars of the Earth was roduced by Tandem Communications, MUSE Entertainment and Ridley and Tony Scott’s Scott Free Films. It will air under the Starz Originals banner and kicks off with a special two-hour premiere, followed by six hour-long episodes.

It weaves together two love stories through the political turmoil of 12th century England, with a cast led by Ian McShane, Donald Sutherland and Rufus Sewell. Pillars tells a tale of good and evil, treachery and intrigue, violence and beauty. The story is set against a backdrop of war, religious strife and power struggles, which tears lives and families apart.

And it’s not the only event coming down Tandem’s pipeline. The company has also optioned World Without End, the sequel to The Pillars of the Earth, to be made into a series. Scott Free Films will be producing the new series with Tandem. The Pillars of the Earth writer John Pielmeier returns to adapt World Without End.
