Viasat Bolsters On Demand Service

STOCKHOLM: Viasat Broadcasting has added catch-up services from Swedish broadcasters TV4 Group and SVT to its on demand offering.

TV4 Play joins Viasat OnDemand after SVT Play was added to the digital box last week. Viasat OnDemand was first launched as an online video streaming service in May 2007, providing feature films, live sports events and TV series to subscribers in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.  In October 2008 the on-demand TV service launched through the recordable digital box ViasatPlusHD. The first channel on Viasat OnDemand with a catch-up service was the premium movie channel TV1000. Thereafter, TV1000HD Play, Viasat History Play, Viasat Explorer Play, Viasat Nature Play, TV3 Play, TV6 Play, TV8 Play and ZTV Play became available.

Hans Skarplöth, the CEO of Viasat Sweden, commented: "The agreement with the TV4 Group, following the recent agreement with public broadcaster SVT, puts us in a unique position as the leading content aggregator for catch-up in Sweden for our satellite TV subscribers through their digital boxes. It further fulfils our credo ‘entertainment at your command.’"
