BETHPAGE: A last-minute carriage agreement signed between Cablevision and Viacom has ensured that customers will continue to receive channels such as Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central as part of their subscriptions.

The two companies reached a new affiliate pact late December 31, ahead of the midnight expiration of their current contract. Otherwise, their pact would have terminated at the start of 2013, leaving Cablevision subscribers without hit Nickelodeon shows such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Fairly OddParents, among other successful programs across Viacom’s networks on its lineup.

"Cablevision and Viacom have reached a long-term agreement that ensures no disruption of Viacom programming for Cablevision customers. No further terms will be disclosed," the operator said in a statement.
