NEW YORK: Single Ladies is a new original hour-long series from VH1 and Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment that marks the network’s foray into the scripted programming arena.

The romantic comedy is about three best friends who have different philosophies on sex and relationships. It stars Stacey Dash as Val, an ambitious aspiring fashion mogul who believes in romance. LisaRaye McCoy plays Keisha, a former video dancer who is keen on making her own money and choosing men with her head instead of her heart. Charity Shea is April, who believes she has found the perfect man for an ideal marriage but soon learns that not everything is happily ever after. Rounding out the cast is Kassandra Clementi as Christina, a free-spirited wild-child intern with an eye for fashion that Val takes under her wing.

A two-hour movie event debuts on May 30 at 9 p.m., followed by the one-hour ten-episode series kicking off a week later, on June 6 at 9 p.m.

Jeff Olde, the executive VP of original programming and production at VH1, said, "We are thrilled here at VH1 to be delving into our FIRST hour-long scripted series with Single Ladies. This series taps directly into relationship and love issues and shows women with real strengths, vulnerabilities, and flaws that many of our audience can directly identify with. Also what better person to bring this gorgeous, funny, and diverse cast of talented and strong women to television than Oscar-nominated and Grammy Award-winning actress/musician Queen Latifah."

"My partner Shakim Compere and I are excited our production company Flavor Unit is working with VH1 on their first venture into the hour-long scripted series genre. Single Ladies is a sexy and smart show…something that we feel TV has been missing for far too long and we knew VH1 was the perfect home for it," added Queen Latifah, executive producer.
