Venevision to Introduce New Novelas

MIAMI: The telenovelas A Husband for Estela and Sinner, along with the musical series You and Me: A New Day, lead off Venevision International’s MIPCOM portfolio.

You and Me: A New Day is revamped this season, reviving the late 1950s, featuring more music from genres such as rock ‘n roll, mambo and the cha-cha. There’s also a multiplatform campaign that supports the series with an official website and merchandise, ringtones, games, music and more. Sinner, based on the original story from Mexican author Veronica Suarez, tells of two siblings who confront difficult trials and tribulations that are brought on by deception. In A Husband for Estela, a woman is looking to marry in order to collect an inheritance left by her mother. She hopes the money will save "El Vendaval," the family hacienda that is riddled with heavy debt and in ruins.

“These three new productions truly complement our exciting proposal, which that features close to a dozen telenovelas, talk shows, and youth-oriented series we have never presented at MIPCOM,” said Cesar Diaz, the VP of sales for Venevision International.  “As a leading force in the genre, we are always armed with successful telenovelas that have performed well in international markets; in addition to a few surprises we have up our sleeves that will reinforce our position as the most versatile company in Ibero-America.”

“For our presentation at MIPCOM, we have been able to gather a great line-up of successful productions from our producers; we couldn’t be more enthusiastic or motivated,” added Manuel Perez, the VP and CFO of Venevision International. “For this edition of MIPCOM, Venevision International’s work force will be lead by Miguel Dvorak, who, for the first time, will be attending since taking control of the company as the president and COO of the Cisneros Group of Companies.”

Further on the novela slate for Venevision are Mysteries of Love, Untamed Soul, For a Lifetime, An Unlikely Countess and Never Too Late. There’s also Valeria, Torrent of Passions, Poor Millionaire and Love Contract. The company will also be presenting a lineup of youth-oriented programming that includes The High School Nerd, as well as a range of series and movies from Dolphin Entertainment that were originally produced for Nickelodeon but are now available for Latin America. These titles include Zoey 101, The Last Days of Summer, Shrederman Rules, Roxy Hunter and Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide

I Need a Friend is a talk show as well as a dramatic series. Billboard Studio presents interviews and performances from popular Latin artists. There’s also premium programming from Mega TV, including talk shows, news magazines and series. Documentaries are also on the roster, in the Platinum Documentary Series, which features titles such as China Through the Yangtze River, Guests of War, Children of Cauca, Musical Expeidion, Andy’s Travels and more.
