Venevision Productions Brings On Adriana Barraza

MIAMI: Venevision Productions has hired Mexican actress and director Adriana Barraza as associate artistic director for the production of telenovelas.

Barraza will work closely with Venevision Productions’ production team. The programming produced by Venevision Productions is represented around the world by its sister company Venevision International. Barraza is involved in the production of the highly anticipated telenovela Pecadora, which is based on the original story by the Mexican author Veronica Suarez. The novela stars Eduardo Capetillo and the Mexican singer and actress Litzy Dominguez.

With a career that spans more than 30 years, Barraza has starred in numerous theater productions, TV series and films. As an actress, she has been in dozens of productions, from the U.S. series ER and CSI: Miami to the motion pictures Amores Perros (Love’s a Bitch) and Babel. For her work in Babel she was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role.

“I am very honored to be part of the Venevision family and be able to contribute to its growth with propositions that, according to my experience, can still improve our productions, not only in Miami, but also in Latin America,” said Barraza. “To have the opportunity to work with Peter Tinoco and his marvelous team gives me the possibility of bringing together concepts, abilities, and experience in an atmosphere of respect, dignity and great camaraderie, and that, for me, is worth its weight in gold.”

“The addition of Adriana Barraza, with her vast experience, extensive knowledge and expert skills, complements our production team; she is the authority in the art of acting,” added Arquimedes Rivero, Sr., the executive director for dramatics at Venevision Productions. “Her professional attributes will enable us to reach our goal of aggressively targeting the U.S. Hispanic market.”
