Upside Down in Film Financing Deal

SINGAPORE, November 27: Singapore’s Upside Down
Entertainment (UDE) has inked a $10-million deal with financing partner Cinema Solutions to fund two
motion pictures for the international market.

UDE is a
creative and financial partnership between production company Upside Down
Concepts and the U.S.-based outfit Quixotic Media Group. The venture was
established to bring Western finance models to projects from Asia.

“Singapore’s
geographic position in Asia, strong IP protection, and reputation as a
financial center make us a natural hub for media financing in the region,” said
Chan Gin Kai, the executive producer of Upside Down Concepts and Upside Down
Entertainment. “There has been tremendous growth in creative talents in Asia,
and we are bridging Western and Eastern funding models to bring financing to
the many strong stories coming out of our region.”

This first
funding slate includes a romantic comedy, Accidental Love, and an adventure thriller, Sky
Pirate
. Both of these
features will be filmed primarily in Singaporean locations, with a mix of Asian
and Western stars. The English-language films are targeted at a worldwide
market.

The production
loan for this first UDE slate is provided by U.S. film finance company Cinema
Solutions, which provides up to 80 percent financing.
