LONDON: The U.K.’s Universal Channel has picked up two hit U.S. dramas, Harry’s Law and Law & Order: Los Angeles.

Harry’s Law is from David E. Kelley, the writer of Boston Legal and Ally McBeal. The show launched in the U.S. on NBC in January and was the network’s most watched scripted series of the 2010-11 broadcast season. It’s been renewed for a second run. Universal Channel picked up the rights for both seasons from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.

Law & Order: Los Angeles is the latest spin-off in the successful Dick Wolf franchise. Universal Channel already airs Law & Order: SVU. The channel has now licensed the exclusive basic TV rights for the U.K. for the Los Angeles spin-off from NBCUniversal International Television Distribution.

Law & Order: Los Angeles will make its U.K. debut on Universal Channel on September 12, while Harry’s Law will launch on October 10.

Laurence Dawkin-Jones, the U.K. managing director for Universal Networks International, said: “Having moved higher up the EPG in February, our priority is to capitalize on Universal Channel’s new prominence by bringing viewers first run, exclusive content they will not find elsewhere. Harry’s Law and Law & Order: Los Angeles are terrific, high-quality titles which we are thrilled to claim Universal Channel is U.K. home to.”
