LONDON: Universal Networks International (UNI) is rolling out Riese: Kingdom Falling across the international websites of Syfy, following a launch on Syfy.com in the U.S.

Riese is distributed by Fireworks International. The show launched on the U.S. Syfy.com portal at the end of October, with geo-blocked episodes to air on the digital platforms of the Syfy Universal channels starting in January 2011. The original five-part version has been remastered and is premiering prior to the five brand-new episodes. Each episode of the ten-part series is eight minutes in length. Amanda Tapping (Sanctuary) serves as series narrator. The story follows a reluctant heroine who is traveling through the collapsing world of Eleysia, outrunning a dangerous religious cult while fighting to reclaim her kingdom.

“The upcoming rollout of Riese: Kingdom Falling across Syfy’s global channel websites builds on our 360-degree strategy digital strategy of delivering original content to our international audiences via our core channel brands,” said Martin Irusta, the senior VP of global programming and acquisitions at Universal Networks International. “Following on from the previously launched digital comedy series FCU: Fact Checker’s Unit, the rollout of this series further reinforces UNI’s commitment to investing in exclusive web-only series.”

Jonathan Ford, the executive VP of digital acquisitions and distribution at Fireworks International, added, “We are delighted to conclude this deal with Universal Networks International—Riese: Kingdom Falling is a perfect fit for Syfy’s digital platforms and is a great example of our continued strategy to work with world leaders in the delivery of content for the online audience.”
