U.S./Chinese Drama Series to Debut on CCTV

HONG KONG, September 17:
Huaso Film/Television Digital Production Company, a joint venture of Sony
Pictures Television International (SPTI) and China Film Group, is set to launch
its first drama series, The Game,
on CCTV8 on September 22 at 7:30 p.m.

Based on the bestselling
novel The Lunatic by Liu Ping,
the 24×1-hour series was written by Ren Yun in a rare collaboration with script
consultants from Hollywood and China: Gerald Sanoff and Li Xiao Ming. The
production team was made up of executives from CCTV and SPTI.

“It has been a
remarkable experience working with the team at Huaso and our partner at China
Film Group to bring this project to the small screen,” said Mary Chan, SPTI’s
VP of production for Asia. “By combining top-notch talent from the East and
West, I believe we’ve managed to create a very original series with new
elements of storytelling for the Chinese audience. We hope the unique story along
with the fantastic cast will lead to an auspicious debut on CCTV8.”

China
International Television Corporation (CITVC) will be distributing The Game within China, while SPTI distributes
the series outside of the region in both its original form and as a scripted
format.
