YouTuber Reuben de Maid Signs on for Quest Red Series

Quest Red, the U.K. free-to-air entertainment channel for women, has commissioned Ricochet to produce Being Reuben, an observational docuseries set to chronicle the life of YouTuber Reuben de Maid and his family.

The show will follow de Maid—a 14-year-old Welsh singer, influencer and makeup expert who shot to fame after appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show—as he travels to Hollywood and attends star-studded award ceremonies and events, all while balancing family life. The series will also feature Reuben’s home life in Wales, with siblings Coco and Sonny and mom Vicky, herself a successful businesswoman running a glamorous salon.

The series also touches on issues around puberty, gender and bullying and highlights the experiences of adolescents on social media, as Reuben balances his blossoming celebrity career with everyday life. Since appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Reuben has amassed more than 200,000 followers on his YouTube channel and has collaborated with various celebrities, including Kim Kardashian.

Quest Red has partnered with co-producers Krempelwood on the series. They will oversee distribution outside of the U.K.
