VICE TV Readies VICE VERSA: Bernie Blackout

VICE VERSA: Bernie Blackout, a new documentary that unpacks the role the press played in the demise of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders’ 2020 run for the U.S. presidency, is set to premiere on VICE TV on May 13.

The 90-minute doc will dive into the corporate news coverage of the Democratic primary race, with filmmaker Pat McGee taking a look at the business of news media and how it approached covering Sanders’ campaign. VICE VERSA: Bernie Blackout will feature interviews with campaign staff, journalists and pundits, and examines Sanders’ popularity among young voters.

Produced by Pat McGee Pictures with McGee serving as executive producer and director, VICE VERSA: Bernie Blackout will be available on VICE TV via all major satellite and cable providers; VICETV.com; and the VICE TV app via iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku and Chromecast.

Director and Executive Producer Pat McGee said: “On the campaign trail it was evident the Sanders campaign was a phenomenon—a diverse movement of passionate hopefuls coming out in massive numbers to transform America. But, if you watched cable news you would never know that. Bernie Blackout pulls back the curtain to expose the corruption and bias that’s rampant in mainstream media’s coverage of presidential elections, and takes a hard look at a new generation and their relationship with news and politics.”
