Viasat World has signed a deal with ZDF Enterprises for a package of factual content that includes seven new titles.

Through the deal, Viasat World has taken exclusive pay-TV and VOD rights, including catch-up and SVOD, for the content package. The titles will air on its Viasat History, Nature and Explore channels, and SVOD services across the Baltics, Scandinavia, CEE and Russia and CIS.

Coming to Viasat History’s schedule in 2021 are Eternal Pompeii, Auschwitz—One Day, The Trojan Horse and Cold Case History. Viasat Nature will feature Enchanted Mountains—In the Heart of Germany and The Return of the Bears. Joining Viasat Explore’s lineup is Construction Fails.

Karin Heijink, senior VP of channels, marketing and products at Viasat World, said: “This unprecedented year has seen many people seeking out our factual channel portfolio across CEE, as they turn to fact-based documentary content in the midst of a lot of uncertainty in the world, as they spend more time at home. Channel performance for Viasat History, Viasat Nature and Viasat Explore has surpassed expectations, with the Spring lockdown bringing in new viewers who have stayed with us. This deal with ZDF Enterprises brings some fantastic new titles to our programming lineup for 2021 so we can continue to serve that loyal audience we’ve built with more compelling factual content.”

Ralf Rueckauer, VP of ZDFE.unscripted at ZDF Enterprises, added: “Viasat World’s factual channels and platforms are renowned as the destination for the latest top-quality programming in CEE. Viasat History, Nature and Explore are the natural home for these terrific titles which we are confident will be enjoyed by a growing audience.”
