TVF International and UK China Film Collab will release the new Titanic documentary The Six, executive produced by James Cameron, in theaters in the U.K.

Directed by Arthur Jones, The Six tells the story of six Chinese sailors who survived the Titanic shipwreck only to be refused entry to the U.S. under the Chinese Exclusion Act. After that, they disappeared. In the documentary, an international team of researchers goes on a worldwide journey to search for the survivors’ descendants.

The film will also feature a previously unreleased, deleted scene from Titanic.

Organized by the London-based U.K. China Film Collab, The Six will screen at London’s Picturehouse Central and Bertha Dochouse on November 16 and November 25, respectively. Eight other screenings across the country, including Picturehouse cinemas in Brighton, Southampton, Cambridge, Oxford and Liverpool will begin November 16. It will also screen on December 12 at HOME in Manchester.

The documentary was already released theatrically in China in April 2021 and picked up a Special Jury Award at the Beijing International Film Festival, the Best Historical Documentary Award at the Immigration Film Festival, the Best Feature Documentary at Bangkok International Film Festival and the Insights Audience Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival.

“As filmmakers, we hope our effort in telling this story will shine a light on people who have lost hope, who are still suffering from mistreatment, who are living under the shadow of shame,” said Luo Tong, producer of The Six. “We hope it can help people find the courage and confidence to defy injustice.”
