WASHINGTON, D.C./DURBAN/LONDON: Nat Geo WILD has lined up a third season of Snake City, which will air on the U.S. channel in January 2017 before rolling out internationally.

The six-episode series is currently in production. It will air on Nat Geo WILD in January 2017 and will roll out globally in 171 countries and 45 languages. Snake City follows snake handler Simon Keys and his herpetologist girlfriend, Siouxie Gillett, as they travel through Durban, South Africa when it is overrun with venomous snakes in the summer months. From deadly black mambas in wardrobes to cobras in factories and green mambas in casinos, Keys and Gillett set out to track down the snakes and capture them by hand in order to release them back into the wild.

“We’re thrilled to once again partner with Earth Touch to continue to tell the story of Simon Keys and his passion for saving snakes’ lives,” said Geoff Daniels, the executive VP and general manager at Nat Geo WILD. “Simon is a real hero in the community he serves and his honesty and total commitment is winning fans globally. Snake City furthers our commitment to staying true to our purpose—that we are the only network for animals and people that love animals as much as we do.”

Chris Fletcher, the director of sales and programming at Earth Touch, added: “Snake City is a fantastic show with great characters, a strong local flavor, but also international appeal, and we are thrilled to have a third season underway with Nat Geo.”
