The newest installment of Smithsonian Channel’s popular The Lost Tapes documentary series centers on the infamous serial killer known as Son of Sam and is due to debut next month.

The Lost Tapes: Son of Sam is about David Berkowitz, who killed six people and critically injured seven others in New York City during the late 1970s. The hour-long program tells the story as it was captured by media reports and home videos at the time, with rarely seen press coverage of the murders and interviews from individuals who knew Berkowitz. It is slated for broadcast on Sunday, July 30, at 9 p.m.

The Lost Tapes series is produced by Tom Jennings of 1895 Films. The next installment will air in November 2017 and focus on the kidnapping of Patty Hearst by the domestic terrorist group the Symbionese Liberation Army. Previous installments have included Pearl Harbor and the L.A. Riots.
