Smithsonian & EBS Korea Spotlight First Chinese Emperor

Smithsonian Channel and EBS Korea are collaborating on China’s Dragon Emperor, a two-part 4K/UHD special.

Smithsonian Channel and EBS Korea’s latest collaborative project will tell the story of how China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, unified and created the country. China’s Dragon Emperor will premiere on Monday, May 21, at 8 p.m., with part one, titled, “Creating A Nation.” The second episode, “Architect of the Afterlife,” will debut on Monday, May 28, at 8 p.m.

China’s Dragon Emperor uses cutting-edge 4K 3D CGI, re-creations and more to illustrate how Qin Shi Huang unified China and reexamines his burial ground. The program is originated by EBS in Korea in association with Smithsonian Channel. Executive producers for Smithsonian Channel are Joy Galane and David Royle.

“We are so pleased to be working again with the wonderfully creative team at EBS Korea,” said Royle, the executive VP and chief programming officer for the Smithsonian Channel. “Both of our companies are committed to creating factual programs that are not only entertaining but also accurate. We have collaborated on epic films about Angkor Wat and Myanmar’s Buddhist temples, and are constantly wowed by the way EBS brings history and awe-inspiring civilizations back to life. We both share a passion for telling Asia’s stories, and the Smithsonian Channel is committed to building a greater presence in Asia while sharing Asia’s stories across the globe.”
