Smithsonian Channel Series Explores WWII in the Pacific

Smithsonian Channel is premiering next month The Pacific War in Color, which brings viewers color images of World War II in the Pacific Theater.

The new eight-part series will premiere on Smithsonian Channel on Sunday, June 24, at 8 p.m. It traces the epic struggle of the Pacific War using rare and never-before-seen color visuals from the conflict. The Pacific War in Color also features home movies from servicemen, including General Douglas MacArthur. Each episode includes firsthand accounts from the men and women who experienced World War II in the Pacific, from Pearl Harbor to the Philippines and beyond.

The first episode, titled “An Ocean Apart,” revives the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. Subsequent episodes will be “Shockwaves,” “Island Hopping,” “The Enemy Underground,” “Striking Distance,” “Fire from the Sky,” “No Surrender” and “From the Ashes.”
