Rocket Rights to Rep Betrayal at Attica Doc

Rocket Rights has picked up the worldwide distribution rights outside the U.S. to the documentary Betrayal at Attica, which reveals the story behind the 1971 riot at the Attica Correctional Facility.

Betrayal at Attica tells the story of the riot and its aftermath from the perspective of lawyer Elizabeth Fink, revealing evidence of premeditated murder that has been covered up. On the day of the riot, the State of New York shot and killed 39 of its own unarmed citizens, injured hundreds more and tortured the survivors. HBO Max has acquired U.S. streaming rights to Betrayal at Attica.

Rocket Rights will handle TV sales outside the U.S. worldwide while sister company, Booster, will manage VOD exploitation.

Elizabeth Fink was the attorney for Attica Brothers Legal Defense. In her final interview, filmed one month before she passed away at age 70, Fink describes the discovery of a cache of evidence from Attica that was hidden by the State of New York for decades. The collection features are hundreds of photographs, including autopsy records, clear depictions of torture by State troopers, and over an hour of on-scene footage shot by a Corrections Officer.

Betrayal at Attica also includes testimony from prisoners caught up in the riot and who were subject to extreme beatings and torture.
