West One International has picked up the international TV distribution rights for the climate change documentary Earth Emergency, narrated by Richard Gere.

From Moving Still Productions, the doc includes contributions from student climate change activist Greta Thunberg and the Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of the Tibetan people. The one-hour film uses illustrations, footage and interviews to try to add the missing piece of the climate puzzle and offer urgent hope.

Earth Emergency follows on from the global internet success of Climate Emergency: Feedback Loops, a series of five short films that detail why natural warming loops have scientists alarmed.

Carl Hall, managing director of West One International, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to distribute this important and timely documentary. With contributions from leading scientists and environmentalists around the world and of course the added star power of committed environmental campaigners such as Greta Thunberg, the Dalai Lama and narrated by Hollywood A-lister, Richard Gere, we believe this is a compelling proposition for broadcasters. Viewers and broadcasters will also be supporting positive change as all revenues from the film will be directed back to organizations fighting climate change.”

Thunberg said: “If I could ask one thing of you, it would be to educate yourself…spread that knowledge, spread the awareness to others.”

“Most people I know…haven’t even heard of feedback loops or tipping points, chain reactions, and so on. But they are so crucial to…understanding how the world works.”
