Perpetual Entertainment Presells New Series

Perpetual Entertainment has signed presale deals, brokered by Marmalade Sky TV, for several new shows with broadcasters in the U.K., the U.S., Australia and New Zealand.

In the travel genre, Jimmy Doherty’s New Zealand Escape was picked up by Channel 4 in the U.K. and Three in New Zealand. The four-parter follows Doherty, a farmer, zoologist, restaurateur, presenter and childhood friend of Jamie Oliver, as he explores New Zealand from its frozen south to its tropical north.

The four-part true-crime series The Murder of Lyn Dawson was presold to Sky Crime in the U.K. and Channel 9 in Australia and was also picked up in the U.S. It chronicles a 40-year fight for justice that started in January 1982 when Lynette Dawson disappeared. Days after her disappearance, her husband moved their teenage babysitter into the family home and claimed his wife told him she needed time away.

Another true-crime show, King Con, was acquired by Paramount UK. The 2×60-minute series, commissioned by Australia’s Seven Network, tells the story of Australian businessman Hamish McLaren, who conned $70 million out of multiple investors around the world, and how he was eventually brought to justice.

Lastly, A&E UK prebrought Hitler’s Handmaidens, an archive-driven series examining the role of women in the Third Reich. It explores the theory that the Nazis could not have succeeded without the participation of women, who were actively involved in all aspects of German society.

“Marmalade Sky TV was founded to help producers create and monetize content that delights, entertains and challenges audiences, wherever they may be in the world,” said Jimmy Humphrey, founder of Marmalade Sky TV. “These presales to leading broadcasters across the U.K., Australia and the U.S. deliver on that promise—and are a further confirmation that, when it comes to creating entertainment with genuine global appeal, Perpetual Entertainment is firing on all cylinders.”

Brendan Dahill, general manager for Australia and New Zealand at Perpetual Entertainment, added, “We are beyond excited to be working alongside Marmalade Sky TV and our various international broadcast partners to produce such a wide variety shows set in both Australia and New Zealand that are entertaining audiences all over the globe.”
