Passion Distribution Expands Factual Offering

Passion Distribution has acquired a raft of talent-led documentary and factual-entertainment programming featuring presenters such as Stacey Dooley.

Passion secured the rights to Emma Willis: Delivering Babies, Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over and Dr Christian: 12 Hours to Cure Your Street. All three series are produced by Firecracker Films for UKTV’s W channel. Passion Distribution also picked up the documentary The Trouble with Women, which features journalist and presenter Anne Robinson and is a Wild Pictures production for BBC One.

Emma Willis: Delivering Babies follows the titular host as she trains for three months on a maternity ward as a maternity care assistant. In Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, award-winning Dooley presents a portrait of modern life by spending time with a diverse cross-section of society.

Dr Christian: 12 Hours to Cure Your Street, meanwhile, sees Dr. Christian Jessen, accompanied by Dr. Sara Kayat, leave the comfort of the clinic to travel across the U.K. in a fully functional mobile clinic to treat individuals in their hometowns. The Trouble with Women follows journalist and presenter Anne Robinson as she meets women from across the U.K. to find out, 100 years on from some women obtaining the vote, what is still preventing them from achieving equality and what they are doing to fight back.

Sean Wheatley, Passion’s head of acquisitions, said, “These programs cover very different subjects, but they all have a unique voice and approach their topics in new and surprising ways. We want to take the viewer on a journey and hope they will find something unexpected. With factual programming, it’s really important that the on-screen talent is both relatable and also someone you can trust. So it’s great to have experts, experienced journalists and presenters like Emma Willis who have a strong personal connection to the subject matter.”
