Paramount+ to Debut June Carter Cash Documentary

June, a feature-length documentary about country singer/songwriter June Carter Cash, is set to premiere across the globe on Paramount+.

The doc will premiere on the service on January 16 in the U.S. and Canada and on January 17 in the U.K., Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. June features archival material that explores Carter Cash’s entertainment career, alongside interviews with stars such as Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson.

June is produced by Sandbox Productions, Sony Music Entertainment and Maxine Productions (part of Sony Pictures Television).

“I am so honored to have had the opportunity to work with Sandbox Productions, Sony Music Entertainment and Maxine Productions to shine a spotlight on June,” said Kristen Vaurio, director. “She’s a woman whom many people are aware of, but few know much about her remarkable life and her deep contributions to country music. We’re thrilled to work with our amazing partners at Paramount+ to bring her into the spotlight, where she belongs.”

“I am thrilled to share the full story of my mother’s life with the world,” said John Carter Cash, the only son of June and Johnny Cash. “Thank you to Sony Music Entertainment and Sandbox Productions for finding a place for it to live and to Paramount+ for giving it a home.”

“This film offers a great opportunity to realize that June was a star of television and music from an early age–decades before she became ‘Mrs. Johnny Cash,’” said Carlene Carter, June Carter Cash’s oldest daughter. “Steeped in the legacy of the Carter family and as a solo artist, she always was–and, as seen through this film–always will remain a shining star in her own right. While some may not fully be aware of her many talents, influence and just how much she mattered as an entertainer, this lovely documentary offers clear insight for everyone to see the true character and the joy shared.”
