Crime + Investigation Special Spotlights Holloway Women’s Prison

LONDON: Woodcut Media has been commissioned by A+E Networks UK to produce the one-off special Holloway: Women Behind Bars, which looks at one of Europe’s largest female prisons.

The hour-long doc will air this summer on Crime + Investigation in the U.K. It will follow Professor David Wilson (Broadmoor: A History of the Criminally Insane, Measuring Evil) as he investigates the story behind HM Prison Holloway, from its beginnings 165 years ago. The prison is due to close this summer.

Currently in production, Holloway: Women Behind Bars will be presented to buyers at MIPTV by Keshet International.

Koulla Anastasi, the programming director for Crime + Investigation, said: “The closure of Holloway prison marks a significant moment in U.K. criminal history. We wanted to commemorate the occasion with a special commission that offers CI viewers a fascinating insight into Britain’s most famous women’s jail.”

Jinal Patel, executive producer for Woodcut Media, said: “Professor Wilson’s prolific reputation in criminology means no stone will be left unturned when it comes to unearthing some of the most riveting facts and stories behind the legendary Holloway prison. We are thrilled with our latest commission from A+E Networks UK, and look forward to it debuting on Crime + Investigation—the perfect platform for such a program.”
